Stevie Hertz covers gender and sexuality news for Uptown Radio. Originally from London, she went to university in Cambridge. While there, she was editor of a campus newspaper, mostly writing stories about swans. This is her second turn at live radio, having appeared on BBC Radio 4 at nine months old. Alissa Escarce covers housing and city services for Uptown Radio. Before coming to Columbia, Alissa worked for immigration non-profits and as a translator, and produced freelance radio stories for NPR’s Latino USA, KQED, Radio Bilingüe, and other outlets. Meira Gebel is a writer, editor, journalist, lover of grammar and all things Carrie Bradshaw. She covers science for Uptown Radio and has found a passion for local news, healthcare and podcasts since coming to Columbia Journalism School last year. Before moving to NYC, Meira held a myriad of newsroom positions in San Francisco and Texas: from copy editor to hyperlocal reporter and researcher to fact checker. I also hear she’s pretty funny on Twitter, so follow her stream of consciousness there.

Juan Torres-Falcon covers arts and entertainment for Uptown Radio. It’s fabulous.
