Government forces in Syria opened fire today on crowds of protesters chanting “Freedom.” Syria’s anti-government demonstrations erupted just a week ago and show no sign of letting up. I spoke with Joshua Landis, a Middle East expert at the University of Oklahoma who writes a daily newsletter on Syrian politics.
